(2007-04-19) President of DiversityWorking Speaks Out!

A poem from World War 2 is an inspiration for a fiery article on how freedom of speech and double standards in media regarding Don Imus' termination for his 'nappy headed hos' comment on the all-female Rutger College basketball team.

James Henry Davis, President of DiversityWorking.com, a diversity job boards site providing job postings for a diversified workforce, career transition resources, and other job finder resources such as articles on diversity in the workplace, has spoken out strongly his opinions regarding the Don Imus firing and how freedom of speech is being attacked today. He thinks this is a consequence of less intellectual diversity in our society today. An excerpt of his views is provided below:

"Finally they will come for us, the religious, the gays, the blacks and the conservatives, and they will take us away because there will be no one left to speak out. Let's all speak up while we can!"

It's a clear warning of what was to come if the conservative right gains a stranglehold on the present media circus on Don Imus. Imus is not the first white guy to express biased and prejudiced views against the Blacks, immigrants, women, gays and Muslims.

Even the 'nappy headed hos' comment seem mild when compared with the dirty language gangsta rappers use to denigrate Black women. And black comedians have been known to make rude jokes just about anything Black.

Is there really a double standard in the media regarding attitudes towards Black women and Black culture? Find out by reading more of these articles on discrimination and Intellectual Diversity at DiversityWorking.com!

About First They Came

"First they came..." is a poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group. Read the original at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came...
