(2009-12-05) Herbert Brown re-releases controversial book ?Pimps in the Pulpit?

Herbert E Brown, a Blind self-published author in Skippers, VA, republishes his book 'Pimps in the Pulpit' after a 4-year hiatus. The book is a biting satire against the black church, in which the author questions the abuse of power by its leaders.

Washington, DC?Herbert E. Brown is pleased to announce the re-publication of his book ?Pimps in the Pulpit?. The book analyzes the black church and identifies three preacher types: the pimp, the punk, and the pusher who behave like their counterparts in the streets. It will be made available through the author?s web site and Amazon.com Marketplace at the price of $29.95 plus shipping.

The book, first released in 2001 was hailed by a storm of criticism. Its scathing look was so blistering that Dr. James Fox of the University of the District of Columbia wrote ?The crucible of the black church has been unalterably ruptured by ?Pimps in the Pulpit? Herbert E. Brown?s new book?. Theresa ?G? Gilliard, Motivational Speaker and Christian Radio Announcer added ??Pimps in the Pulpit? will make you angry, it will make you pensive, but most of all it will make you pray for a closer walk with the Lord, to be lead by the Holy Spirit to discern when our leaders are not truly sent by God?.

In his revised and updated edition of ?Pimps in the Pulpit?, to be released December 7, H. E. Brown broadens the scope by discussing the issues of black education, black finance, the critical lack of black church cooperation, as well as some major flaws in black church doctrine which keep congregants powerless and politically and economically disenfranchised. ?Pimps in the Pulpit? went out of print by 2004 but because of continued demand for it - as some individuals profited by selling used copies of the book on Amazon.com for as much as $320.00 per copy - he felt the need to release a revised and updated version of the book.
