Eligibility criteria
After analysing your personality, it is also important to see if you meet some universal eligibility criteria. Here these are:
• Age: Below 25 years
• Height: Minimum height should be 154.5-157.5 cm (barefeet) for air hostess and 170-180 cms for flight steward
• Weight: Proportionate to height as per the company's standards
• Vision: Preferably normal eyesight without glasses; or minimum uncorrected vision (distant) should be 6/24 in each eye.
• Educational: Graduate degree from a recognised university, or 10+2/Equivalent with 3 year diploma in Hotel Management and Catering from a recognised institute.
• Language: Knowledge of the national language and English is essential

After completing the initial screening of applicants, private airline companies invite them for a written examination, usually multiple choice and objective type in nature. Those who qualify in the written test have to appear for a group discussion followed by a personal interview of successful candidates.
About cabin crew applicants, they first undergo training in catering, first aid, general airborne procedures, documentation (dealing with the flight documents they have to complete after each flight), technical details of aircraft pressurisation and ventilation. Cabin crew are also given lessons in use of safety equipment and the emergency drill.
