Hong Kong – Citi today announced the appointment of Paul Hodes as Asia Pacific Head of Traditional Managed Investment Products for its Wealth Management business, and Asia Pacific Head of Wealth Management Products for its Regional Consumer Bank. Based in Singapore, he reports to Jonathan Larsen, Asia Pacific Head of Regional Consumer Banking, and Debashish Dutta Gupta, Asia Pacific Head of Investments for Wealth Management.
Citi(http://www.citibank.com.my) has a leading role in Traditional Managed Investment Products, which include the marketing of equity and fixed income products to high net worth individuals. Hodes is responsible for expanding this platform and its product capabilities. He will also be driving the regional effort on marketing Wealth Management Products and portfolio solutions to regional consumer bank clients in the region.
“Citi is the top advisor to emerging affluent and high net worth individuals in Asia Pacific, and we are looking to cement that position by expanding our Wealth Management Product platform,” said Jonathan Larsen. “Paul has a strong track record of catering to such clients and of growing businesses.” Citi is the largest wealth manager in Asia Pacific, with $165 billion in assets under management.
“We are looking to boost our presence in Traditional Managed Investment Products by building a comprehensive advisory based platform,” said Debashish Dutta Gupta. “We are pleased that Paul has come on board to drive this effort.” Since December 2007, Hodes has been based in Kuala Lumpur managing Citibank Malaysia’s Retail Bank. As Malaysia’s first Retail Banking Head, he built a new organization focused on strengthening the Citigold Wealth Management proposition including the launch of four new branches, a new sales incentive structure, as well as the launch of Hedge Funds, Premium Accounts, Portfolio Sales, and Gold accounts.
In addition, he was elected to the Board of Governors of the Financial Planning
Association of Malaysia (FPAM). Prior to his role in Malaysia, Hodes was based in Singapore as Citibank’s Asia Pacific Regional Wealth Management Business Development Head. He joined Citibank in 1998 as the Investment Marketing Director for Citibank Japan and was a member of the team that launched the investments business. He has also spent time in London as the Wealth Management Head for International Personal Banking EMEA.
Hodes began his career at Morgan Guaranty Trust, London. He spent 11 years at Fidelity Investments in Boston and Tokyo, working in a number of sales and marketing management roles.
